Adobe Photoshop CS3: Quick Tour
Like any computer program, Photoshop has menus and buttons. Click on the icons in Figure 8-2 to see what they do.
**Figure 8-2:** Use the icons in the Photoshop window to access menus and commands.
Photoshop CS3 is designed to work either in a window or on a monitor, and no matter which you use, you see the same interface.
When working with many layers, it can be hard to keep them all visible and easy to see. If you’re working on a very large image, the Print Preview command can be a helpful tool for previewing your results. However, the Print Preview tool can produce an image that looks different than the finished product, so it’s better to go ahead and save your image as a file type that allows for quality retention.
Some of the buttons that are most common to most image manipulations are available in two menus: Edit and Edit ⇒ Layers.
To create a text box, whether it’s for a photo, logo, or other type of image, open the Type tool and create a text box. Press Ctrl+M (⌘-M on the Mac) to transform the text box into a marquee or simply paint a text box on the canvas.
Clicking on an object in Photoshop makes the object selected. You can unselect an object by clicking again. You can also select several different objects. If you click an object and then click inside the box that appears, Photoshop will automatically select the object, but if the object you clicked wasn’t already selected, it’s automatically selected. You can select several objects by pressing the Shift key while clicking on the objects.
In the same way that you can create and manipulate a layer using the Layers dialog box (which you see in the next section), you can also create and manipulate your canvas. To do so, click on the canvas and drag it in any direction. You can move your canvas around and you can scale the canvas. To scale, hold down the Ctrl key and click and drag, or select the Edit Selection tool and drag from the tool’s icon at the top of the screen. You can also scale the canvas by using the dialog box shown in Figure 8-3.

In this guide we’ll explain how you can edit images using Photoshop Elements on Ubuntu.
Before You Begin
Before you begin, you’ll need to download Photoshop Elements. You can download it here. You can also download GIMP, an alternative to Photoshop Elements, here.
Since neither Photoshop nor Photoshop Elements are open source software, you’ll need an appropriate license. You can download a free trial version of Photoshop Elements here. You can download a free version of GIMP here.
Installing Adobe Photoshop Elements and GIMP
To install Adobe Photoshop Elements and GIMP on Ubuntu follow these steps:
Install Adobe Photoshop Elements
The first thing to do is to download Adobe Photoshop Elements for Linux. You can download it here.
When the download finishes, you’ll find a file named Adobe Photoshop Elements 18.1.0.x86_64.tar.gz. We’re going to extract this file, so open a terminal by pressing Ctrl+Alt+T and navigate to the directory that contains the file:
$ cd Adobe Photoshop Elements 18.1.0.x86_64.tar.gz
Once you’ve navigated to the directory where the file is located, you can extract the contents of the file:
$ tar xvf Adobe Photoshop Elements 18.1.0.x86_64.tar.gz
This should extract the contents of the file into the current directory. We’re not done yet! To install the software, we must configure it. We can do this with the following command:
The program will now start installing the software. You might see a warning message about the default configuration. Click the ‘Dismiss’ button on this message and click ‘Install’.
Once the installation completes, you can launch Photoshop Elements by going to ‘Applications’ and searching for ‘Photoshop Elements’. You can also start it by clicking on the ‘Photoshop Elements’ icon which you can find in the menu bar. The program might ask you to create a new image. Click ‘Create’ and set the resolution, sample size and image size. You don’t need to change any of these settings since we’re going to create a new image.
The next thing we need to do is to install the alternative application called GIMP. The first thing we’ll need to do is download GIMP. GIM
Torneo de Primera A
The Torneo de Promoción y Reclutamiento de Ascenso (Promotion and Recruitment Tournament), or Torneo Apertura, is the top flight of the Paraguayan football league system and also it is the only tournament in which the best teams play the Paraguayan Cup competition. As in other countries, the teams, that win the tournament, earn promotion to the second division.
Torneo Apertura is divided into two groups, one named A and the other B, the winner of each group faces each other in a playoff. The winner of the tournament qualifies for the Paraguayan Cup.
This was the first season in which the first division had a championship play-off and the champions also became the champions of the Paraguayan Cup.
The format of the current Torneo Apertura is maintained in order to give more opportunities to the smaller teams, given the fact that due to the great popularity, it is the most important tournament in the country.
The first official round of the tournament was held on 5 February 2000. Since then, the tournament has been in an almost continuous competition, except for the 2001 tournament, which was played in one tournament only, with the top 2 of both groups progressing to the final.
