Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.
AutoCAD Crack Mac is used for architectural design (by architects and building inspectors), civil engineering (by civil engineers and engineers-in-training), mechanical drafting (by mechanical drafters and engineering technologists), surveying, 3D modeling, animation, and specialty fields such as architectural visualization and structural engineering.
There are several other CAD programs which are more specialized than AutoCAD. One example is the Unified Modeling Language (UML) which is used for software modeling. Autodesk’s UModeler is a free open source application for use with AutoCAD.
AutoCAD LT (or AutoCAD Lite) is a minor update to AutoCAD, released in August 2003. AutoCAD LT is designed for use with low-end or embedded computer systems, such as in cars and manufacturing plants. Its features include a native Windows API for greater portability, and the ability to export DWG, DWF and PDF files in line with the current Autodesk DWG standard. It also includes several language modules, allowing designers to make use of other applications to quickly perform repetitive tasks.
AutoCAD LT is also used for civil engineering and architecture. It was initially used in the construction of the Sydney Opera House.
In 2017, Autodesk released AutoCAD Studio, a free upgrade for AutoCAD.
AutoCAD is used by students of architectural drafting and mechanical drafting.
AutoCAD was initially developed by Russell Bowe of Computer Innovations, Inc., a small company in New Haven, Connecticut. Bowe was looking for a new project to take on and to develop a product to use with Autocad, he was attracted by the market potential and the “not-yet” status of AutoCAD, as well as its growing popularity, according to Bowe. He thought that if there was an easy way to create houses using AutoCAD, then he could provide a product to compete with architectural design products that were being used in architectural firms. Bowe’s company got the contract and worked on it for the first half of 1982, calling it Builder’s Design [BDG], and with the help of a programmer, created a workstation, a Windows 3.1 [Win 3.11] program that allowed a user to view and produce architectural designs.
Before AutoCAD was released, CAD was only used by architects and engineers. Architects designed buildings in many countries and AutoCAD software was used to
Enterprise Architect An application of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) using the Eclipse IDE.
Audition An early integration with Adobe Audition.
Axapta An integrated development environment (IDE) provided by Axapta.
EDD An early version of Rhapsody development environment.
Rhapsody An integrated development environment (IDE) provided by Axapta. It supports the RAD language.
Acquisition and sales history
Autodesk purchased the Graphisoft product line in 1999, and in 2000 it was reported that Autodesk was talking to Graphisoft’s management about its acquisition. Graphisoft was purchased by the company in 2001 for approximately $415 million.
In January 2003, Autodesk announced the acquisition of one of the most widely used electronic graphical design tools, AutoCAD, for $170 million, as the company sought to beef up its electronic design products. In August 2003, the company launched the BIM 360 Design product line for architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) professionals.
In 2004, the company began selling its DesignWare electronic design automation (EDA) software through the channel. The resulting Autodesk Resolve product is a combination of the Autodesk Forge and DesignWare EDA software.
In January 2005, Autodesk acquired a German software firm, Seegrid Software GmbH, which makes software to develop games for Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation and other platforms. The acquisition included the office-suite-software Productive! and the game engine LiquidFun.
Autodesk announced its intention in August 2005 to acquire Appian Corporation, a provider of enterprise-class software applications for business users. It was the first acquisition for Autodesk since the Graphisoft deal in 2001. Autodesk confirmed the acquisition in December 2005. The sale was completed in March 2006.
On August 1, 2006, Autodesk announced the acquisition of the Codeplay Group, which includes best-selling titles like The Game Studio and Game Maker.
On August 10, 2006, Autodesk acquired the architectural visualization and data visualization software company Abex for an undisclosed amount. In August 2011, Autodesk announced the acquisition of the Corel3D software suite for Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Mac.
