AutoCAD is popular for tasks that include engineering design (such as architectural and mechanical design) and for creating 2D drawings such as flow charts, graphs, schematics, or maps. AutoCAD is typically used by architects, engineers, drafters, and other technical professionals and designers, but is also used for less demanding tasks, such as in the production of marketing plans, web pages, and other non-professional applications.
AutoCAD 2019 is a desktop application available as a Windows, Linux, and MacOS version and a mobile app. AutoCAD can be installed on as many as five computers, and each computer can be a separate user account.
AutoCAD is also available as a cloud-based service, and it is the backbone of AutoCAD’s subscription product, AutoCAD LT. AutoCAD LT can run as a desktop app or as a cloud app, and it can run on up to five personal computers (PCs). AutoCAD LT can be used as a single user license (SUL), as a multi-user license (MUL), or as a company license (CL).
What is AutoCAD? What are its features? What does it do?
AutoCAD is a desktop application, which means it runs on a personal computer (PC).
AutoCAD is designed to make 2D drafting and design easier by letting users move drawings around, resize, rotate, and edit their designs quickly and easily.
AutoCAD is used for creating architectural, mechanical, and engineering design drawings.
AutoCAD is commonly used for creating marketing plans, 2D maps, graphs, charts, and diagrams.
AutoCAD uses a proprietary file format called DWG (and it was called DWF before being renamed in 2009), which is compatible with AutoCAD and Autodesk’s other applications.
AutoCAD 2019 and earlier were available as desktop or web applications, but starting with AutoCAD 2020, the desktop app was replaced by a web app called AutoCAD 360. AutoCAD 360 was renamed AutoCAD Web in AutoCAD 2020.
AutoCAD vs. AutoCAD LT
AutoCAD is made up of two products, AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT.
AutoCAD is the complete package, and AutoCAD LT is designed for users who need to do basic drafting and designing, but don’t need to

The first version of AutoCAD was accessible by people with various disabilities. The first version was released as AccessAutoCAD (version 2.0). The product included a special version of the AutoCAD Drawing Engine that enabled people with visual or motor coordination challenges to use the application. Subsequent versions of AccessAutoCAD included enhancements to the screen reader capability that extended its ability to read out screen and control how it navigated through a drawing. The latest version of AccessAutoCAD can read out text and navigate through a drawing, and can read out comments in a drawing. The latest AccessAutoCAD also include the capability to read out a drawing that a user can mark up.
AutoCAD software is available in several screen-reading languages, such as American Sign Language (ASL), Canadian Aboriginal Sign Language (CALS), or International Sign; and for color blindness. AutoCAD also provides a document exchange format (DXF) that can be read by most screen-reading software. AutoCAD DXF files can be read by AutoCAD and many other screen-reading programs.
AutoCAD was one of the first CAD applications to include screen-reading, and much of the software design was influenced by one of the original designers of the software, Phil Smith. Smith ran the first company to provide on-line screen-reading, Access AutoCAD, which was one of the first product to support accessibility. The accessibility software was created by a programmer named Jim Goodall and was built into the programming of the software, but Access AutoCAD was initially used by users who wanted to use the software by typing commands into a text field instead of using the on-line screen-reading. Smith asked the programmers to create screen-reading software with a separate feature to be used with Access AutoCAD. These programmers did create the screen-reading software for Access AutoCAD, but the only language they used was American Sign Language (ASL). Eventually Access AutoCAD was released as a stand-alone program and Smith no longer used American Sign Language (ASL) as the language for the screen-reading software.

The Velo-club Santa Pod were charged with “conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.”
In his statement, Cooley said he had been assaulted on the evening of October 25, which he alleged had been organised by Santa Pod, and said: “This was a series of coordinated violent assaults on me that lasted two hours. They aimed at causing pain, injury, embarrassment and a loss of dignity and self-confidence.”
The video, shot with a phone by a fan, shows Cooley being forced to his knees in the middle of the track, with the
* In AutoCAD 2.1, you can use print pages in an Office document as annotated CAD drawings. However, you can now apply your annotations directly in 2D drawings and send them to a drawing server. (video: 1:40 min.)
Create and work on your designs on any cloud environment. Share, synchronize and collaborate with colleagues and users on any web browser, tablet or mobile device. (video: 1:58 min.)
* Share models with colleagues, and incorporate their feedback quickly. You can also share and annotate a model in your own drawing. (video: 2:04 min.)
* When using Navisworks with AutoCAD, you can instantly search for and work on a partner’s model. You can also work on any model in a shared space, as though it were in your own space. (video: 2:06 min.)
* From Autodesk’s cloud computing services, you can work on drawings that you’ve shared with collaborators. You can collaborate directly or invite others to collaborate on your drawings. (video: 2:13 min.)
* There are also new search and sharing options, based on what you’re working on and where it’s located. (video: 2:14 min.)
* If you’re working on a large drawing, you can open separate parts in a custom page on the cloud and continue to work on them simultaneously. (video: 2:20 min.)
* When you’re working on a drawing in Navisworks, you can receive comments and updates directly from colleagues on their CAD drawings. (video: 2:23 min.)
Advanced 3D Modelling
* More precise dimensioning tools. AutoCAD 2023 features new and improved dimensioning tools for creating mechanical dimensions in complex environments, including hollow parts, NURBS surfaces and parametric tools. (video: 1:52 min.)
* You can choose to dimension to an accuracy of 2 to 1.6 mm. (video: 1:53 min.)
* You can also create a custom tool in AutoCAD to measure parametric curves and create breakpoints. (video: 1:55 min.)
