# Working in Photoshop
Photoshop CS3 is a powerful tool that enables you to create and manipulate digital images. Some people might mistakenly think that Photoshop is just a video editor. Although you can create photo-editing videos in Photoshop, most of the emphasis is on enhancing digital images.
Photoshop’s interface allows you to easily change the color of a single selected pixel or any area of an image. You can add layers to images to create works of art, add layers to other layers to make those layers blend together, and add special effects to images, to name just a few of the features of Photoshop.
## Previewing Your Images
Photoshop is a tool that’s indispensable when you create and edit images. When you open an image, Photoshop gives you a preview of what the final image will look like. In Figure 4-1, you can see a close-up of an image that I worked on to make it look more natural. This page from a magazine was scanned and imported to Photoshop for some editing.

## Creating Layered Images
Because Photoshop is a layer-based program, it’s common to work with layers. You can create complex effects with layers. Each layer is a layer in a Photoshop file. The more layers you add to an image, the more complex the image. For example, in Figure 4-2, I created two layers to create a three-dimensional effect. One of the layers is a light- and dark-toned circle layer, and the other is a

C++ Dev: How does this auto_ptr line actually work and when to use it?
auto_ptr server = m_gameState->NewServer();
I understand how it works when the pointer is used in a member variable, but how does it work in the above form? What does it mean and when do I need to use it in a function, as opposed to simply using the pointer variable directly?
Well, first of all, yes you do need a pointer or reference to “m_gameState->NewServer()”.
The auto_ptr does the job of creating a local variable for a “m_gameState->NewServer()” and then automatically delete it.
Without auto_ptr, you would need to do “delete m_gameState->NewServer()” in a similar way to this:
Other than that, you could also do something like this. It is equivalent to auto_ptr in that it is guaranteed to instantiate the object and delete it, and is somewhat cleaner. Note the commented section to understand the basics of how this works.
auto_ptr server (m_gameState->NewServer());
The effects of bright light on the re-exposed myopia progressions: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
To review the literature systematically on the effect of bright light on the progression of refractive error in myopes re-exposed to a long-term environment with dark, compared to one with light or no light. Systematic review and meta-analysis. PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, and Cochrane Library. Nine relevant studies met the inclusion criteria. The participants were myopic, newly-diagnosed patients, usually younger than 17 years of age (other than in the study by Mejia & Cho, as this also studied children younger than 17 years of age, which was not part of our criteria). They were exposed to a long-term environment with either no light or dark light, or light (or some wavelengths of light) for 6 weeks. The light or dark condition was then removed, and refraction was measured under standardised conditions. In myopia, which was reported in 10 studies
This application relates to a belt drive pulley which has a plurality of groove configurations on the drive face of the pulley.
A belt drive pulley of the type generally used in automotive applications has a rim or circumferential section which is typically of a diameter of about 5 inches or more. The rim may be of a width of about 0.5 inch or more.
Belt drives pulleys are positioned adjacent the side of a belt to drive the belt and remove torque from the belt. Typically, these pulleys are free-wheeling to drive the belt at high speed on one side of the pulley in one direction and to drive the belt at low speed on the other side of the pulley in the opposite direction. In this way, the belt is driven intermittently and can be re-driven at intermittent intervals.
Over time, the belt becomes loose due to the use of the pulley and of stresses applied to the belt. A typical belt will be loose by one to three millimeters. While such looseness is not a problem in free-wheeling operations, when the belt is driving the tire at high speed, the loosening may cause inefficiencies in the operation, which may result in damage to the belt.
For example, it may be desirable to re-drive the belt if the belt becomes loose. The re-driving of the belt should be done in a manner that does not interfere with the operation of the tire. For example, it is undesirable to drive the belt at high speed if the tire is turned off while the belt is re-driven. It is desirable to maintain control of the operation of the belt.
In accordance with an aspect of the present invention, a pulley has a drive face having a plurality of groove configurations. As one example, the plurality of groove configurations have a first, second and third configuration. The first configuration is a slotted-shaped configuration having a plurality of grooves which are separated from one another. The second configuration is a plurality of first grooves which are spaced apart at a first pitch and which are aligned in a first direction. The third configuration is a plurality of second grooves which are spaced apart at a second pitch and which are aligned in a second direction. The first pitch is different than the second pitch.
In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, the pulley is a pulley which is used to drive a belt. The groove configurations are spaced relative to one another such that at least one of the second and
