How to get both value and text from input field using JavaScript?

This is the html input

And this is the code
var sel = document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’);
var text = sel.value;

document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’).value = price;

but i don’t know how to get both value and text of the input.

You could use the same event listener as @NegativeZero suggests, but then you need to parse the and get the value of the text field. Here is one solution:

var el = document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’);
var getText = function(evt) {
return document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’).value;
var setText = function(evt) {
document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’).value =;

var input = document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’);
var button = document.querySelector(‘[data-role=”help-trigger”]’);

el.addEventListener(‘input’, function(evt) {
input.addEventListener(‘input’, function(evt) {

button.addEventListener(‘click’, function() {
var price = document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’).value;
document.querySelector(‘[name=”price_field”]’).value = ‘Price:’+ price;
label {
display: block;
margin-top: 5px;
color: #999;
input {
display: block;
width: 100%;

“Random Accessing a Single Object at Time” – C#

I am making a text-based adventure game with C# (in Unity3d). My problem is how to access a single object after another object changes. Say that in my game-logic I have a map object. Each map object has an array of rooms. Each room has a list of a given room object (rooms[roomIndex]). If I enter the room and start “randomly” exploring it, it’s like the order in which I go in them changes each time.
My question is how to access the map objects from C# when I click a room. The problem I am having here is that I need to access the map object, find the room index, and then go to the index in the list of the room in order to get the array of that room object which holds all the graphics or information associated with that room.
Any ideas how to do this?

Your question seems to be about how to store a collection of data in a single object. Your data doesn’t seem to be related to your problem.
Objects can be very large and hard to load if you have to load every single piece of information for them. If you have the order to load the data from best to worst and you still want to have it as a one big object, you can do that. But it’s just a matter of preference.
There are 2 ways to approach this:

Have a gameLogic class which has all the data in it. Just instantiate it at creation time and keep it. When a room is entered, you update its data and instantiate a new gameLogic object if the old one exists.
Have a gameLogic object but don’t save it. Just a simple list of entities of type Map (maybe with a List> so you can add/remove info depending on what you want). At the start, instantiate all the entities. Then, at the moment of starting your room, you can find the map object you want to change and change some value. Then you just have to add the new information of that room and instantiate the new roomLogic.

It’s up to you. I generally prefer the 2nd approach.
